Plans To Remove Paid Legal Assistance For Smaller Claims
For sometime now the government has been looking at increasing the Small Claims limit for personal injury claims from £1,000 to £2,500 or even £5,000. The result of this will be that if your claim for personal injury does not exceed the new limit, you will be expected to handle your personal injury claim without any support or advice from a solicitor.
You will be expected to obtain your own evidence from the scene of the accident, to interview all of the witnesses, obtain the police evidence, prepare your schedule of losses and expenses, instruct a medical expert to prepare a report and then value your own claim. The valuable service provided by solicitors will disappear and many victims will not be able to pursue a claim for compensation even if it has resulted in substantial losses to them.
