Hartlepool man launches bid for £200,000 compensation
Ernest Gooding, a 66-year old grandfather, has instigated a claim for £200,000 after being diagnosed with mesothelioma, the aggressive lung cancer caused by exposure to asbestos.
Gooding was diagnosed with the disease in January 2007 after feeling run down - later in the year he was given only 18 months to live.
Gooding claims that he was exposed to asbestos dust while working for the techTelent and Associated Electrical Industries in the late 50s and early 60s and working for other firms in the 60s and 70s, including ICI on Teesside. He claims that the companies failed to warn him of the health risks associated with asbestos dust.
