Accident Compensation Questions
We understand that deciding whether to pursue a compensation claim, and if so with which company can be a really difficult issue. Using our 15 years experience of Personal Injury claims we have put together some of the most commonly asked questions to try and help you with your decision.
Q What Can I Expect From 1stClaims?
We understand that you may have many questions when you reach the 1stClaims or any other injury claims website. This is what one of our recent visitors said on using our service:
"Before contacting 1stClaims I was using another company who were useless. I am now glad to be speaking to an expert. I am so impressed that I am not just a reference number and my solicitor really knows who I am. Based on my experience so far I would certainly recommend 1stClaims."
"Before I contacted 1stClaims I was worried about finding someone to help her as there was a death involved. I had help at hand straightaway with a quick response and a very good solicitor that I could get on with. Before contacting 1stClaims I had got in touch with 10 different companies, only two rang me and 1stClaims we far more helpful." Ms H
Q. Will claiming cost me anything?
No. 1stClaims believe you should have complete access to justice. We make no charge to you for our service whatsoever. Many compensation companies make an administration charge of several hundred pounds for their claims services. We will never charge you. We are a specialist legal marketing company. We use our experience to choose the best personal injury solicitors for you. They are excellent at the work they do, and make a contribution towards our expenses of marketing the website for each case we send them. That way, you pay us nothing whether you win or lose your case.
Q. What sort of Expenses can I claim for following an accident?
Anything which is reasonably incurred as a result of the accident. This ranges from prescription charges through to damaged clothing, damaged vehicles, and lost earnings. The most important thing is to keep receipts for every expense incurred. Your 1stClaims solicitor will help you and advise you. The most important thing is to register your claim early to ensure you are properly advised by a 1stClaims expert solicitor.
Q. If I have to claim against my employer for an accident at work, will I lose my job?
No. Your employer has insurance to cover the expenses of such claims and will claim against this. If there are any difficulties 1stClaims expert compensation solicitors will deal with them professionally as you would expect from a company that puts you first.
Q. How much compensation will I receive for my injuries?
A lot of people are given false ideas about the real value of their claims to induce them into using a particular claims company. Being an ethical company, that is not the practice of 1stClaims. Our expert accident injury claim solicitors will ensure you receive the right compensation for your injuries. See here for the approximate value of whiplash compensation awards.
The reality is that the amount of the award for your injuries should be roughly the same whichever solicitor you use, as the court sets guidelines for the value of the injuries. The reason for using 1stClaims compensation solicitors is that they will get you the compensation you are entitled to, in good time and in a professional and efficient manner.
Q. My child was injured in an accident over five years ago. At first I thought the injuries were minor, but now they are now much worse than I thought. Can I still make a claim for compensation?
Yes. Basically, because the court accepts that people under 18 are not of full capacity, and cannot make informed decisions on their own about a compensation claim, they are allowed three years from the date of their 18th birthday to make a claim for accident compensation. The important point is to contact 1stClaims immediately so as not to lose anymore time. Evidence can become stale. The sooner you make the claim the better.
